| Product Features | Authentic Vintage Norwegian Beer / Ale Bowl dated by the artist in 1938. This traditional wooden drinking bowl is hand painted in the style unique to the Telemark region in Norway called Rosemåling (or Rosemalt, rosepainting). Gorgeous as a table centerpiece, shelf display or as wall decor.It is a lovely deep ochre (rusty orange-red) with skillful floral motif painting in blue, green, yellow and red with black accents. The inscription along the side appears to be “Minde Fra Myking”. The literal translation is Memory from Softening, but I suspect there is a regional meaning. Since these drinking bowls are passed around at weddings and other community gatherings, inscriptions typically relate to health and well being. It measures 8 1/2” diameter by 3 5/8” tall (21.5 cm x 9.2 cm). Condition: Very good. No cracks or repairs and the paint / pattern is amazingly intact. There are only the expected signs of age and use, such as minor nicks along the edge or natural variations in the wood grain.New to ?
